At the age of 11, Dany Alexandre discovered rock and metal music through his first instrument, the guitar. Over time, he exposed himself to new musical styles and developed an interest in classical music (Claude Debussy, Richard Wagner), which led him to become a self-taught pianist. At 21, while studying jazz guitar at the Université de Montréal, he began accompanying and arranging for several artists (Rosie Valland, Mistysa). It was during a learning trip to southern Spain, where he was deeply moved by Gypsy culture, that he began to reflect on his own culture and the role it plays in the creative process from a holistic perspective. He then took an interest in Quebec artists (Daniel Bélanger, Louis-Jean Cormier, Klô Pelgag), who inspired him to use his various cultural and musical influences to create the music that lives within him. Since 2017, Dany Alexandre has entirely written, produced, and directed two EPs and a debut full-length album. His very first EP, "Un trait à la fois," reveals songs with bold arrangements and orchestral textures, while his second EP, "Objets perdus ; fragments de mémoire," presents a more minimalist universe that makes room for ambient guitars, piano, and more. In November 2021, Dany Alexandre released his first album, "Rencontre," showcasing a complete and confident artist. His poetic songwriting, reassuring voice, and guitar playing are brought to the forefront in a style that leans toward pop music. In 2022, driven by a desire for freedom, Dany Alexandre began the creative process for a new album, focusing on letting go and collaborating with exceptional artists. The year 2023 promises to be a formative one for the artist as he prepares to reveal his true authenticity through this new project.
My primary mission is to identify the student's goals. Lessons can also be geared toward creativity, with the goal of songwriting, composing music, and/or recording. Here are the musical styles I can teach: For electric guitar: blues, rock, metal, jazz For acoustic guitar: pop, folk, blues For classical guitar: flamenco, Brazilian, classical music My training in brief: - Université de Montréal - Studies in Performance - Jazz Guitar - Carmen de Las Cuevas – Flamenco guitar training in Granada, Spain - Cégep Saint-Laurent - Professional Program in Jazz Music - Classical and Brazilian guitar lessons with José Harguindey - Jazz guitar lessons with Pierre Côté and Mike Gauthier
