Chris C. — Drum Teacher — Bloor West Village, Toronto

Chris Cawthray (BFA MUSIC) is a dynamic drummer and percussionist with over 25 years of teaching experience in K-12, post-secondary, and private instruction. Chris holds a BFA in MUSIC from York University where he specialized in Jazz Performance and Indian Classical Music, and has been a performing, recording, and touring music for 30 years in a wide range of styles. Chris is also a composer and songwriter and has written music for film, modern dance, and theatre in addition to songwriting for his original music projects. As an author, Chris has created a library of his own instructional exercises and videos, and edited instructional books for other musicians and educators. He strives to contribute creatively and sincerely to all of the projects he is fortunate to be a part of.

I offer private lessons in drums, hand percussion, ukulele and recreational piano. I welcome students of all ages and abilities. Students are encouraged to foster their own creativity while developing strong music theory fundamentals and efficient and ergonomic technique. I strive to create a personalized curriculum for each student that will complement their musical interests and goals while also expanding their understanding and appreciation of a diverse range of styles and musical concepts. My lessons are creative, inspiring, challenging, and fun! Lessons are offered in-person at my studio in Toronto's Bloor West neighbourhood and online.
