Tim C. — Guitar Teacher — Lynn Valley, North Vancouver

Tim Charman is a Vancouver based professional musician and teacher. He has been involved in numerous musical projects covering a wide variety of styles and mediums. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Concordia University in Montréal, where he studied both jazz and classical theory and performance. The majority of Tim’s career has been in the performance/recording realm. He has extensive live performance experience across Canada and the United States as well as in Colombia and New Zealand, performing with artists and stage productions such as Relive the Music, Lauren Mann, Ben Mink, Adam Dobres, Naghmeh and the Southern Shores, We Once Were Trees and Subtle Like a T-Rex. An electric bassist first and foremost, Tim also performs and records regularly on guitar, mandolin, piano, drums/percussion and voice. As a music educator Tim provides lessons for private students on electric bass, acoustic/electric guitar, ukulele and mandolin either in person, or online. From beginner students to advanced levels, Tim teaches based on solid foundations in theory, ear training, and instrumental technique. His lesson plans are individually designed for each student’s area of interest and skill level, being taught with the philosophy that learning music should be both an enjoyable and inspirational experience. In addition to an active performance schedule, Tim is also a songwriter who writes guitar driven Indie-folk music with lyrics that reflect on travel, relationships and motion. He released two EPs of original music in the Spring of 2019. You can find his music on all major streaming platforms.

Lessons are individually tailored around each student's interests, goals, ability and current level. We can cover a variety of topics related to music including theory, technique, mental preparation, exam readiness, performance techniques and much more.
